Approval regulations for insect repellents vary from one country to another. In most countries registration is necessary before being allowed to introduce it to the market. As an active ingredient, Saltidin® must be approved by the authorities in some countries where it is to be marketed as well. Saltigo induces the registration of the active ingredient in selected countries and supports her customers with the registration of their insect repellents.

Insect repellents using the active ingredient Saltidin® have already been successfully approved in more than 40 countries, including the United States and in Asia.

The European Union (EU) is seeking to standardize approvals for active ingredients, including insect repellents, with a regulation governing biocidal products (BPR, regulation (EU) No. 528/2012). The application for approval of the active ingredient Saltidin® was already made while the previous directive applied (Biocidal Products Directive EC 98/8). Until the decision on approval, i.e. its entry into the list of approved active ingredients, the national approval requirements continue to apply to Saltidin® throughout the EU.

Saltigo offers a support program for companies, who want to sell their Saltidin® based products in  EU-countries and register their products under the BPR. Please contact us if you want to know more!

We are also working in other countries on new approvals for our tried-and-tested active ingredient Saltidin®. Some of our basic formulas are also registered in certain countries. We have comprehensive registration-related data packs for some of these guide formulations. Please just get in touch.

We’d be delighted to assist. We collaborate with a number of consultancies concerning registration issues. At your request, we can put you in touch with these companies, who can assist you in gaining approval for your insect repellent containing Saltidin® for a fee.
