Quality Works: LANXESS supports the sustainable development of the coatings industry

LANXESS at CHINACOAT 2018, Dec. 4-6, China Import and Export Fair Exhibition, Hall 2.1B, Stand 14-17

Shanghai – December 4, 2018 – Specialty chemicals company LANXESS participates in CHINACOAT 2018 with a broad range of products and services for the coatings industry. With a focus on the major trends of industrial development in China such as environmental protection, inorganic pigments, green construction and sustainable development, LANXESS exhibits the latest technologies and solutions from its Inorganic Pigments (IPG), Material Protection Products (MPP), Rhein Chemie (RCH) and Urethane Systems (URE) business units.

High quality pigments from a "National Green Plant"

The new red pigments produced by IPG have become the highlight of the exhibition. This new generation of yellow-shade iron oxide pigments is a perfect addition to the company’s top-selling range that LANXESS has been manufacturing by the Laux process for over 90 years at its German Krefeld-Uerdingen site.

Based on independent tests by leading paints and coatings manufacturers over the last 12 months, LANXESS has adjusted the products of its new Bayferrox 500 series according to its customers’ feedback. Final standards are now set and all trial products are renamed as regular sales products, including the yellowish pigment grades Bayferrox 504, Bayferrox 509, Bayferrox 511 and
Bayferrox 522.

Proven color consistency together with tight product specifications ensure the reliable use of the new yellow-shade red pigments in all common coatings systems on a long-term basis.

All of the new Bayferrox grades are produced at the site in Ningbo, China. The plant received the "National Green Plant" certificate from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China (MIIT) earlier this year. It meets the stringent environmental standards for inorganic pigments, with its products covering the entire color spectrum of iron oxide pigments in the mid and yellow-shade red color range.

Sustainable preservatives in compliance with China Green Label regulations and an innovative slow release technology

Another highlight of LANXESS at CHINACOAT 2018 is its new portfolio for the preservation of paints and coatings, which has especially been designed to comply with the regulations of China Green Label. The in-can and dry-film preservatives show as excellent performance as conventional preservatives.

Chin Peng Tan, Customer Service Manager of LANXESS Material Protection Products business unit, will share his experience in how to balance the new regulations with a constant efficacy of the formulations under the theme of "Biocides for China Green Label Paints" in a presentation on December 5, 2018.
In addition, MPP will present a new generation of dry-film products – the Preventol next series. The distinguishing feature in the Preventol next series is an innovative slow release technology which enables the formulation of superior products with an excellent efficacy and a more environmentally friendly profile. Preventol next active ingredients have been embedded in a compound that releases the active ingredient only slowly. The product series has been designed for premium and ecological end-products.
All products from the Preventol next series are aqueous dispersions, so handling makes no difference compared to “conventional” dispersions. But Preventol next offers several advantages: like higher leaching stability, extended efficacy and lower dosage decreases risk of yellowing.

Further to its product portfolio, MPP offers a dedicated worldwide regulatory and technical support to find the best, and if need be, tailor-made solution for customers.

Sustainable solutions for eco-friendly, anti-corrosion, mildew-proof and aqueous pigments, paints and coatings with brilliant colors

As sustainable development is becoming an increasingly dominant trend, there is huge market potential for environment-friendly coatings. At the exhibition, LANXESS exhibits a number of innovative solutions with environmental-friendly features from the Rhein Chemie business unit, including attractive Levanyl and Levanox water-based pigment preparations. For example, the Levanyl and Levanox pastes and the Bayscript water-based dyes for ink-jet and stationery inks provide a wide variety of brilliant colors while meeting environmental regulations and the latest ecological requirements.

As a reliable basis for ecological preparations, Levanyl is a water-based, solvent-free organic pigment paste range that is light fast, and possesses high brilliance. It is noted above all for its fine dispersion and high transparency. Levanox is a water-based, solvent-free inorganic paste range, comprising selected high-grade inorganic pigments, which can be used in paints, coatings and detergents.
Besides the existing paste ranges, LANXESS will present its new Levanyl X portfolio at CHINACOAT. This range combines many beneficial features, including universal cost efficiency, technical compatibility as well as reliable and constant quality. The products will help customers keeping their raw material costs under control and minimize production efforts due to simple and safe handling in the plant.

Leading Customized Solutions Provider - Urethane Systems

LANXESS’s Urethane Systems is one of the world’s leading suppliers of conventional and low-free pre-polymers as well as aqueous specialty polyurethane dispersions (PUD) - with a particular focus on solvent-free and LF monomer systems At Chinacoat, the company exhibits a series of specialty aqueous polyurethane dispersions products, with resistance to high temperature, hydrolysis, solvents, yellowing and chemicals. These products are widely used in functional coatings for textiles, plastic resins, woodwork, metals, fibers, stones, glass, automobiles and so forth. LANXESS's well-designed polyurethane systems provide exceptional processing properties, contribute to various products based on them, and can withstand the harshest environment.

In addition, the Witcobond range of aqueous urethane dispersible resin with a 60% solid content, showcased by LANXESS’s Urethane Systems business unit, also attract much attention. The products are used for specialty coatings, adhesives and textile sizing to help Chinese manufacturers improve their efficiency significantly. Moreover, the business unit will also exhibit the low volatile organic compound (VOC) Trixene® water-based blocked curing agent products that meet the environmental needs of customers. This product range is widely used as a waterproofing agent for coating of water-repellent clothing. LANXESS’s polyurethane can also be used in clothes and sports, such as jackets, bags, insoles and golf balls in our daily life.
