Product stewardship: Think and act globally

Leverkusen -

Taking five leading chemical companies as an example, the new "chemie report spezial 01-2010" from the German chemical industry association VCI shows how the Global Product Strategy (GPS) of the International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA) is being put into practice in Germany. The aim of the program is to reduce the differences in chemicals management between developing, emerging and industrialized countries. This should result in greater product reliability and create the fundamental principles for fair global competition.

In this edition of "chemie report", LANXESS, as a specialty chemicals group, reports on how it is embracing the Global Product Strategy with an article entitled "Product stewardship: Think and act globally". This illustrates the company’s ability to come up with sustainable innovative solutions and how it goes about conserving resources quoting the example of LANXESS's iron oxide pigment production facility in Porto Feliz in Brazil.

In the interview with "chemie report", LANXESS Management Board member Werner Breuers says:  “I sincerely hope that the chemical industry will take its special responsibility regarding the Global Product Strategy seriously. We must reach a critical mass in this respect, and we must win over more and more companies to join the movement. The GPS initiative can also serve as a valuable magnet at global level. LANXESS therefore emphatically supports it."
