LANXESS Royco aviation lubricants certified by COMAC

December 14, 2017, Shanghai – On October 18, 2017, a grand meeting building on the past convened in Beijing. At the opening ceremony of the 19th CPC National Congress, Secretary General Xi Jinping pointed out that China's economy has shifted from high-speed growth to high-quality development, and that it is in the challenging process of changing development mode, optimizing economic structure and transforming growth drivers. On May 5, 2017, China's first mainline civil aircraft the C919 made its maiden flight, setting a good example of technological innovation.

Prior to the launch of the ARJ21 and C919 projects, LANXESS, a world leading specialty chemicals company, and its partner, Lubair, won the trust of Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "COMAC") with their extensive experience in aviation chemical products and professional technical support. LANXESS' Royco range of aviation lubricants have been certified by COMAC and supported the standardization of the latter’s airliner. LANXESS’ Royco lubricants have been included in the ARJ21and C919 manuals.

Standards are an important carrier of knowledge to be passed on, and a very important intangible asset for companies. On September 28, 2017, the “Airliner Standardization: A Key National Special Project for Demonstration” of Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. went through acceptance, which means a set of airliner standards, procedures and specifications in line with international practice and suitable for China's national conditions has come into being. It is a significant step in China’s full implementation of the standardization strategy, and promotion of the lasting, stable and healthy development of its civil aviation industry.

"The implementation of the 'Made in China 2025' strategy has brought a valuable historical opportunity to China’s aviation industry. LANXESS will continue to work with our local partners based on our integrated value chain to provide customers with a broad portfolio of quality products," said Hak Leong Chok, Executive Vice President Sales APAC, LANXESS Additives BU.

The aviation hydraulic fluids Royco 756, Royco 782, and Royco 783 have been designed to meet the demanding operating conditions of modern aircrafts with their excellent oxidative stability, superior corrosion resistance and outstanding anti-wear protection. These "ultra clean" aviation hydraulic fluids can effectively extend the service life of parts and enhance the reliability of the hydraulic system. Royco SSF and Royco LGF designed specifically for aircrafts’ gear systems and shock absorbers when landing greatly improves lubrication and extreme pressure and anti-wear performance to meet the performance requirements of contemporary wide-body airliners.

LANXESS completed its acquisition of the U.S. company Chemtura, one of the world's leading suppliers of flame retardants and lubricant additives in April 2017. The primary pillars of Chemtura’s additive business include lubricant additives, as well as synthetic lubricants for industrial applications such as power generation and aviation. With the largest acquisition in its history, LANXESS has greatly enhanced its competitive position in the field of lubricant additives and synthetic lubricants for industrial applications. LANXESS expects medium-term growth of 3 to 4 percent annually for the industrial lubricant additives market, driven primarily by steadily increasing demands placed on lubricants as regards performance capability and environmental compatibility.

Since the beginning of the Jet Age, the Royco brand has established its position as a superior aerospace lubricant. Maintaining reliable leading technologies for the most demanding applications, it has provided unparalleled performance for advanced military and civil aviation from the extremely cold poles to the hot deserts. Royco Lubricant for Defense Aerospace has established a quality and technical standard and obtained AS 9100/ISO 9001: 2000 certification.

The main products of Royco currently cover four major categories, namely hydraulic fluids, lubricants for turbines and transmission systems, lubricants for weapon cleaning and anti-corrosion, and performance compounds and greases. The Royco range of lubricants is designed to meet the most stringent military equipment standards, and has maintained reliable leading technologies for the most demanding applications.

Lubair was established in 1996 in Shenzhen. Through nearly 21 years of dedicated operation, it has been an authorized distributor of over 50 well-known aviation material brands in the world, and has now become the largest provider of aviation material products and services with the broadest product portfolio in China and even in Asia.
