LANXESS proud to receive 10 awards in five months

Ming Cheng Chien: “LANXESS continues to see strong growth potential in China”

Shanghai – January 30, 2019 – Specialty chemicals company LANXESS has been recognized with 10 Chinese awards over the past five months. “China is a key market for our global operations and it makes us proud to be so widely recognized and awarded for our product quality, supply chain services, corporate social responsibility and brand awareness,” Ming Cheng Chien, President APAC Region, said.

LANXESS China received recognitions from many aspects

On January 19, LANXESS was awarded for the third time in a row the "2018 Model Corporate Citizens in China's Petrochemical Industry" by China Chemical Industry News. This award recognizes LANXESS' commitment to green development and social corporate responsibility in China. LANXESS encourages more enterprises to pursue sustainable development driven by active innovation, environmental protection, safety, reliability, and giving back to society.

As China's chemical industry strived to transform from a big industry to a powerful one in 2018, LANXESS also actively shared with the industry its experience in sustainable development. On January 11 this year, LANXESS won the "2018 MOLBASE Top 10 Golden Suppliers of Fine Chemicals" medal, which shows that LANXESS is trusted and recognized by the users of MOLBASE, the industry's largest chemicals e-commerce platform by transaction volume.

On January 7, LANXESS' "Quality Works" project won the "Excellent Communication" award at “The 3rd China CSR Annual Summit” organized by Jiemian under Shanghai United Media Group. For LANXESS, "Quality Works" not only means pursuing quality in all aspects, producing high-performance products and fulfilling its commitment to customers, but also means assuming environmental and social responsibility, establishing win-win cooperation, and working with partners to build a sustainable future.

Adhering to sustainable development supported by the principle of "Quality Works"

Since its establishment, LANXESS has always striven to balance economic and ecological benefits. The awards LANXESS has garnered over the past six months also reflect its commitment to the principle of "Quality Works".

While developing itself, LANXESS attaches great importance to the growth of employees. In December 2018, LANXESS Greater China, once again, won the "Top Employers China" certification for its continual provision of excellent welfare for employees, its great emphasis on the training and development of talents at all levels within the organization, and its longstanding commitment to human resource optimization practices for sustainable growth.

LANXESS promotes industrial development while developing rapidly by keeping up with China's reform and opening-up. For example, LANXESS lubricants are used by Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC) in its first independently-developed civil aircraft C919. In addition, LANXESS exhibited its Ningbo plant model at the first China International Import Expo (CIIE). The plant was awarded the "National Green Plant" certificate by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China in early 2018.

Thereby, in November 2018, LANXESS received the prestigious title “Promoter of the Local Development” from China Chemical Industry News at “The 40th anniversary of reform and opening up in China’s

petroleum and chemical industries”, as well as the “Excellence Case” award from Shanghai Daily, Eastday at the “40 years on Multinational Companies in Shanghai exhibition” for its outstanding video and exhibits. The exhibition was co-sponsored by Shanghai Information Office and Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce.

2018 is the tenth anniversary of the launch of the LANXESS global education program. Over the past decade, LANXESS has launched more than 500 educational programs around the world, covering more than 700,000 young people. In China, LANXESS launch programs faced to primary school, middle school and colleague students, including scholarship, chemical kits donation, LANXESS-PASCH dream career program and "Clean Water for Better" Life University students research competition.

In November 2018, LANXESS received the “Best Project Award” from China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation for its support at Hackathon China 2018. LANXESS’s “Clean Water for Better Life” program received the “Excellence Award for Sustainable Development 2018” from Shanghai Daily for its great contributions to the sustainable development in the chemical industry. This project also received the "CSR China TOP 100” and “Beautiful China Environmental Protection Award” at “2018 the 3rd CSR China Education Award” ceremony in September.

On September 17, 2018, LANXESS received the "2018 China Automobile & Parts Industry Developing & Innovation Award" in the category “Material Innovation” for its high performance material application on innovative light weight solution.

Strengthening presence and seizing new opportunities in China

"I extend my gratitude to the communities for their recognition of LANXESS,” Ming Cheng Chien said. “LANXESS' development is a microcosm of the common development and progress of China and the world. China is now entering into a new phase of development driven by consumer upgrading and as a result we continue to see strong growth potential for our specialty chemicals portfolio here."

In recent years, China has been pursuing high-quality development and upgrading its industries. LANXESS is supporting this development with its wide product range in fields such as mobility, urbanization, clean water and healthcare. Meanwhile, the improvement of the business environment and the deepening of opening-up in China have created new development opportunities for foreign-funded enterprises represented by LANXESS.

Since 2005, when LANXESS officially started its operations, the company has steadily grown its business and increased its production sites and turnover. Sales of LANXESS Greater China nearly tripled those of 2005 in 2017 when the company posted record sales of around EUR 1.2 billion there, accounting for approximately 13 percent of global sales.

LANXESS has been listed in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI World and Europe) for seven consecutive years.
